LOOK BELOW TO SEE HOW I HAVE GROWN
AND WHAT I HAVE BEEN LEARNING!

Teddy was temperament tested and obedience training has been increased to walking on the leash, beginning “Sit,” “Down,” and “No Bite,” come when called, climbing up and down steps, no jumping up and continued crating and jeep rides. He is growing fast and doing great!

Here is what Janet has to say about matching me to my right family:

Teddy is a sweet natured baby boy that is people focused and interactive. Laid back and gentle, he would do wonderful in a home with small children or for someone wanting a more laid back puppy with low to medium energy. This is an intelligent and friendly puppy that is doing excellent with crating, jeep rides, grooming and beginning leash work, we consider Teddy to be a possible therapy prospect!

Five Weeks Old

3/15/24

This week my littermates and I started using the doggie door for playtime outside and our daily crate training has lengthened with us now being in our own crates with a toy to play with! Beginning leash work has started outside and Brisa and Marisa say that we are all responding well!

Puppy choice appointments have all been scheduled, the Okefeild team will reconfirm appointments and send last minute details and instructions in preparation for puppy choice day. Individual pictures and temperament test results will be added to our pages by Wednesday afternoon, 3/20, so that families can look over all of the information before final choices are made on Thursday!

We look forward to meeting everyone!

Four Weeks Old

3/08/24

We are four weeks old and our little personalities are starting to develop! Our Teddybear coats are becoming full and we look pretty cute in the new video that Janet took of all of us.

This past week we started beginner crate conditioning with a crate buddy so that we can slowly acclimate to sleeping in our crate. Brisa and Marisa have also been holding us more, offering gentle cuddling, holding while walking around and inspecting my body/mouth examination, all preparation for handling without fear when we go to our new homes. Our trainers have also started conditioned emotional response exercises such as pulling our ears, hugging around our necks, ruffling our fur, handling and squeezing our paws and clipping our nails while eating Greek yogurt during each manipulation. We are learning to show a positive response, instead of a negative one so that we can handle the bumps and tugs that we might encounter with young children or special needs children/adults with my our new families. Brisa thinks we are doing great in preparation for our upcoming temperament test and that our new families will love our sweet and playful natures.

Our trainers have also started conditioning us to the different moving objects that we will encounter when we go to our new homes. Getting used to shopping carts, wheel chairs, walkers, strollers, canes, etc. prepares us for any direction our training will take once we join our new famlies. We have also progressed from sitting in a running vehicle to short car rides every day and daily crate training has lengthened!

Enjoy the new video of us, we have really grown a lot this week!

Three Weeks Old

3/02/24

This has been a big week! Our eyes are now fully open and we are beginning to respond to Brisa and Marisa when they take us through our daily training. A litter box has been added to our nursery room and we are already searching it out to go potty in! We also finished up our Neurological Stimulation exercises and Brisa and Marisa have started the next phase of our training and conditioning. Holding, cuddling and walking around during this development stage helps us to learn to be secure when being carried and handled.

At 21 days our ears began to open and we can now hear. We don’t know much about science but research says that during the first week of hearing puppies have very little startle response to loud noises so Janet makes sure to take advantage of this time to begin conditioning us to accept these noises while we are eating. Doing something pleasant while we hear, startle and recover conditions us to ignore the scary noises that we will encounter in our future life. Daily sound conditioning will continue at each of our meals until we go home to our new family. We are getting used to hearing:

  • The sound of a running vacuum, force blow dryer and clippers

  • Slamming doors, gates and dropped objects

  • Honking horn and running car engine

  • CD containing noises such as thunder, wind storm, alarm clock, lawn mower, power saw, buzzers, bells, children playing, thumps, babies crying, bumps and much more

Two Weeks Old

2/23/24

Brisa and Marisa are finishing up our Early Neurological Stimulation exercises and we are responding very well! Each day we accept the exercises a little bit better, this gives us the perfect start towards developing a temperament that can go in whatever direction you need, whether it be for therapy, diabetic/seizure alert or as an excellent family companion. Click on the bold link to read over a more scientific description of the process and to watch a short video by author, trainer and AKC judge, Dr. Carmin Battaglia.

One Week Old

2/16/24

We are having a great first week with our littermates and are at the milk bar quite a bit (Janet says that we are just the right weight for our size!) and we spend the rest of our time sleeping. Occasionally we will crawl around and spend time under the heat lamp, we’re living the life! Brisa and Marisa are taking great care of all of us and next week Janet will show you what they have been teaching us, until then, enjoy our new pictures!

Newborns Are Here!

2/09/24

Tatiana gave birth to a large and health litter today! She had a normal delivery with Ron’s help and was given oxytocin to expel any retained afterbirth and penicillin to ward off infection. Mama is recovering nicely and so far everyone is doing great! Babies will be divided into groups in order to get that first important colostrum within the first 24 hours and to make sure everyone is getting the nutrition that they need.

We will post pictures and gender availability next week then Janet will begin contacting clients for decisions on moving their names to a particular gender group. We look forward to sharing these beautiful puppies with you!

Pregnancy Confirmed!

1/16/24

Great news, Tatiana has been confirmed pregnant by ultrasound! The vet saw about 10 puppies and said that everything looks great!

Tatiana has been moved to our puppy nursery and we expect her to give birth around 1/31/24. Keep an eye on the website for an announcement of her birth, once the puppies are a week old, stabilized and strong, we will contact families on the reservation list. We will give each family the opportunity to reserve a particular gender or choice to remain on the list to consider the next litter.

We’ve added a video of Tatiana’s ultrasound so that you can watch the growth process from the very beginning, enjoy watching!
